Artistic Concert Experiences (ACE) is a mixed group of friendly non-professional singers of all ages, who enjoy singing in harmony. Our repertoire of songs has developed to include popular standards, old familiar classics, pop and rock hits, alongside songs from musical theatre.

The organisation was set up in 1999 by friends who, with a lifetime of experience in the amateur theatre behind them, wanted to branch out in a new direction. ACE Chorus is run by the two Directors, Richard Johnston and Rona McKenzie.

Richard is the Musical Director for ACE and has the responsibility of overseeing all aspects of the preparation and staging of concert performances. Richard is passionate about cultivating a family atmosphere within the company where everyone is valued and Prima Donnas don’t belong. In addition to his involvement with ACE, Richard is a Musical Director for Tayside Opera.

It is Rona’s responsibility to ensure the smooth running of the company, both administratively and financially. Alongside Richard, Rona is involved in preparing the programme of songs, selecting performance and rehearsal venues. Rona is a member and past president of Glenrothes Amateur Musical Association.

ACE Chorus is a non profit-making company.

For 25 years ACE has provided large scale concert experiences, in some of Glasgow’s finest stages, such as the Clyde Auditorium (Armadillo) and the New Auditorium at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. The chorus of between 80 and 150 people is supported on stage with professional musicians providing live music. The 2023 set list included Bohemian Rhapsody, Grease Medley, Seasons of Love (Rent), A Million Dreams (Greatest Showman), I’m Still Standing, Yesterday Once More and many more.
